Google IO: Pixel 6a, Pixel Watch, Android 13 announced | Google

Google has announced a series of new products that appear to compete with Apple on tablets and smartwatches. Updates for low-priced smartphones, high-end earphones, watches, and Android were announced later this year.

When the IO developer conference was launched at the keynote, Google indicated its intention to build a broad collection of its own branded devices rather than using software by third parties such as Samsung.

“We are aiming for an ecosystem,” said Rick Osterlow, head of consumer hardware at Google. “We want people to know where Google is heading for devices as an organization over the next few years.”

The Pixel 6a is Google’s new small mid-range Android smartphone, priced from £ 399 ($ ​​449/749) and will ship on July 28th. It has a 6.1-inch screen, the same recycled aluminum body as the company’s high-end phones, two-tone color, and a camera bar on the back.

Google has announced the first Bluetooth earphones with noise canceling called the Pixel Buds Pro. It will ship on July 28th for £ 179 ($ 199/299).

Earphones use Google-designed chips, algorithms, and speakers that compete directly with Apple’s more expensive AirPods Pro. It has the same smart features as Google’s previous earphones, including IPX4 sweat resistance, hands-free voice assistant, walking routes, and instant translation capabilities.

Google unveiled its first own-brand Wear OS smartwatch, called the Pixel Watch, which will ship in the fall.
