5 Android apps you shouldn't miss this week

Joe Hindy / Android Authority

Welcome to the 433rd edition of AndroidAppsWeekly. The big headlines last week are:

  • It turns out that most of our readers are actually reading the change logs. I posted the polls last week because I was curious if people were actually reading them in the Play Store app. More than 50% of readers said yes, and 34% said yes when they saw the notification. They are pretty good numbers and we are impressed by our readers for it.
  • Due to a flaw in Huawei’s App Gallery, it seems that premium apps can be downloaded for free. Developer Dylan Roussel warned Huawei about this issue, but Huawei hasn’t fixed the issue yet. Fortunately, it’s not that easy to do, so the vulnerability shouldn’t do much damage. Hopefully Huawei will fix it sooner rather than later.
  • Google has launched a test program for the Wear OS companion app. The link for that is here. However, some people are stuck trying to join the beta, so don’t be sad if you don’t join right away. In any case, this new beta may allow you to test new features before actually launching the app. It’s nice to see Google take it a little more seriously. Especially considering that the Pixel Watch will be available this fall.
  • WhatsApp is changing the way you leave group chat. Currently, when you leave a group chat, you are basically alerted to everyone you leave. New changes only warn the group administrator and you when you leave the group. It’s a small thing, but it’s still a good change.
  • Google Play has been abandoned by developers and may remove approximately 900,000 apps from the Google Play store. Older apps don’t work as well as newer apps, and apps without updates don’t get bug fixes. In addition, the app is not optimized as it is not updated to the latest API. Either way, both Google and Apple seem to want some space to make room for the new app. Click the link to learn how they do it.

Mythic Legends

price: Free play

Mythic Legends is a new strategy game with some automatic chess mechanics. Players unlock various champions and use them to duel with other players. The game also has several different game modes with rankings, gauntlets, royale and dungeon playlists. At its core is a card collector strategy game with fun mechanics, so fans of these particular types of games should enjoy it. There are some flaws and it’s not that deep yet. But we believe that things will expand over time. Keep an eye on it from now on.

KMint Screenshot 2022

KMINT is a multi-chain crypto wallet that also supports NFTs. It has most of the usual things you can find in most crypto wallets. You can exchange coins, send and receive ciphers with others, and combine the MiniApp platform with several other tools. To be honest, I wasn’t the biggest crypto guy, so I didn’t have much assets to play here, but it doesn’t seem to matter what it is. However, new apps are always a bit buggy, so give the developer time to shape it before making a complete decision.

Gunfire Reborn

price: $ 6.99 for in-app purchases

Gunfire Reborn is an adventure game studded with other elements. We are proud of the mechanism of RPG, Rogue Light, and FPS. In addition, the graphics are vaguely reminiscent of old Borderlands games. Players go through the level by shooting down the bad guys. You can play solo or with your friends. The choice is up to you. Previously released on PC, the developers seem to have done a pretty good job with the mobile port. The game is a premium of $ 6.99, but it unlocks all content. Only additional characters can be purchased with in-app purchases. This is a pretty good game and one of the few decent FPS games with a premium price.

Watch to speak

price: free

Look to Speak is a new app from Google’s Creative Lab. I talked about this in a previous update, but it seems that it’s actually released now. The app is very simple, but it’s also a bit cool. You give your phone a specific look and the phone responds to specific messages. So, for example, you can frown on your phone and your phone tells the person you are with to leave. This is an accessibility app and a beta product. Please report any bugs or issues to Google so they can be fixed.

Apex Legends Mobile

price: Free play

Apex Legends Mobile is arguably one of the biggest mobile game releases of the year so far. This is a mobile version of the popular game, which most mechanics have taken over. A battle royale style game with different legends with different abilities. Gameplay is smooth and a big fan of shooting range modes that allow you to demo weapons and test control changes. It started surprisingly smoothly without many bugs and problems. The game went well on my tester phone. It’s been a few days and it’s old news, but it definitely competes with PUBG and Fortnite on mobile. It may be even better.
