5 Android apps you shouldn't miss this week

Welcome to the 432nd edition of AndroidAppsWeekly. The big headlines last week are:

  • Netflix is speeding up advertising-supported plans and blocking password sharing. It may reveal changes sometime in late 2022. The report came from a note to employees about what Netflix is doing exactly that. Netflix seems to be responding to a significant drop in subscribers and is looking for ways to get people back. Of course, streaming fatigue is a problem, and Netflix still doesn’t understand it.
  • One of the big announcements at Google I / O 2022 was the new MyAdCenter. This is where you can modify, delete, or otherwise view the information we collect. It’s not much different from the websites Google already has, but it’s easier to find and use.
  • Wear OS was another big topic for Google I / O. I have an official Pixel Watch. Google has also promised to focus more on new apps that include some larger names like SoundCloud and Deezer. Wear OS really needs better app support, so I hope they take it seriously this time around.
  • Google Wallet has been restarted by Google. The new version is not much different from the old version. You can save your membership card, etc. by entering your payment card and tapping it to make a payment. This new version includes driver’s license support in addition to digital khaki. These are new additions to the Android OS and it was only a matter of time before support began.
  • Nothing Launcher has expanded its reach to new devices this week. Not available on all devices running Android 11 or later. We’ve seen some serious mixed reactions to Nothing Launcher, but that could be better. Click the link for more information.

Ringtone maker by Yogesh Dama

price: $ 1.49

Screenshots of ringtone makers

Ringtone makers are just what they are called. It allows you to truncate existing sound files on your phone and use those sound files as ringtones. This category isn’t new, so you’ve probably seen something like this before. This is new and doesn’t make much of a difference, except that on the surface you need to get updates. This is not true of many of our competitors. With this app, you can load and cut tracks and render them normally. You can also assign a ringtone after creating it, saving you the trouble of moving to the settings menu.

Dislyte

price: Free play

Dislyte is a mobile RPG with gacha elements. You summon various heroes and use them to fight the bad guys. Player growth is fairly typical of the usual upgrade structure commonly found in gachas. Combat is pretty typical as well, but it looks good and is at least a bit important. A rhythm-style mini-game with additional resources available, which sets it apart from other gachas. There are superhero and mythical creature themes, so you need to be familiar with many heroes. It can use some optimizations and it seems pretty decent.

QR master screenshot

QR Master is a QR code reader and generator. Android 13 has its own QR reader built in, so you don’t really need a QR reader on the Play Store. Fortunately, this is useful as it also generates a QR code. You can create a QR code in 24 different ways, including contact details, a Wi-Fi password, and even a download link to the app. The reader function is still pretty good, supporting flashlights and up to 4x zoom. To be honest, it’s not bad, but I wish I had a premium version to get out of the ads.

Chinese parents

price: Free $ 4.99

Chinese Parents is a life simulator that grows up in a Chinese family. In this game you can live as a child for 18 years and interact with different characters in different situations. You can also choose between boys and girls. Each gender has its own story path. This game has over 100 endings, mini games to keep things interesting and more. Some people aren’t fans of the UI and the game has some bugs compared to the Steam version. Hopefully the developer will fix those bugs.

NothinK screenshot

NothinK is a collection of widgets, wallpapers and live wallpapers. It probably uses the “custom” buzzword you’ve seen in marketing before. Fortunately, widgets and wallpapers look and function well. You’ll need KWGT and KLWP to make them work, but otherwise it’s pretty easy. There are calendar, calculator, music, battery, weather, volume, google search and several other widgets. Marketing gimmicks aside, this is actually a small pack of pretty nice widgets and wallpapers, and at a fair price.
